Welcome

donna-cameron-december-2016After many deeply-satisfying years of non-profit management, I’m spending some time exploring the good life that Rachel Remen describes as “pursuing unanswerable questions in good company.”  I believe kindness is an undervalued quality that has the potential to change lives … and perhaps change the world.  This blog is where I am challenging myself to live that conviction and learn from my attempts.

year of living kindly cover image - FINALIn September 2018, my book A Year of Living Kindly, was published by She Writes Press. It explores what a kind life entails and provides suggestions for how each of us can strengthen our kindness muscle so living a life of kindness becomes ever easier and more natural.  I’m proud to report that A Year of Living Kindly has been named to Kirkus Reviews’ Best Books of 2018. We can change the world. It begins with choosing kindness. BO Badge - small

I am also speaking about the power of kindness with businesses, business groups, and nonprofit organizations. Contact me for more information.

Elsewhere, I am still working with organizations to help them determine their missions and visions, and aid them in creating and executing preferred future plans.  And I work with boards and leaders to help them identify their values and increase their own individual efficacy, as well as the effectiveness of their organizations.

One Hill, Many VoicesThe power of stories has always entranced me–the stories we hear, the stories we tell ourselves, the stories we tell others, and the stories that form the basis of our organizational and individual legacies.  Along with co-author Kristen Leathers, I was privileged to be able to help people tell the transformative stories of their cancer journeys in the book, One Hill, Many Voices: Stories of Hope and Healing.  The experience of talking with so many cancer survivors, caregivers, and their loved ones reinforced for me both the power of kindness and the power of stories.
